Besseggen is one of Norway's most famous mountain hikes. Every year, around 30,000 tourists hike up the ridge, which offers stunning views.
In winter, Besseggen is full of snow and ice, and the snow can remain until mid-June. You can usually hike across Besseggen during the same period when the boats are operating in Gjende - from mid-June to mid-October. Before that, it is recommended to experience the ridge with randonee skis!
The hike takes from six to eight hours including breaks and is recommended for experienced hikers. The mountain ridge is steep, demanding and windy, so if this is your first hike in the mountains, you may want to choose an easier option. You can ensure that your hike is a good experience by being well prepared. We recommend that you set aside at least two days to increase the chance of good hiking weather.
