Vågå is a national park municipality and is located in Nord-Gudbrandsdalen. In Vågåmo there is a good selection of shops, restaurants and accommodation. The areas around the town center also offer good hiking opportunities. The iconic Vågå Church is also located in the center of town. The church has a history dating back to the 12th century, but the current church was completed in 1630.
Vågå is a perfect starting point for hiking and cycling in Jotunheimen and the surrounding mountain areas. There is also an extensive network of cycle paths that end up close to the center of Vågå. Also try cycling or driving the beautiful Slådalsvegen, which is a gravel road that goes over to Lesja.
