Ragna and Ronald Haaland live on the coast south of Ålesund, and bought a cabin at Lemonsjøen around the turn of the year 2019-2020. With family living in Trondheim and Oslo, they experience Lemonsjøen as a great location with a short distance to most things. We have asked Ragna and Ronald about what it is like to be a cabin owner at Lemonsjøen, so you can get an impression from those who know it best.
"We had heard about Lemonsjøen through someone else who had a cabin down there," says Ragna. "We liked the location, and that was one of the most important things for us. Lemonsjøen is located in the middle of many national parks such as Rondane, Jotunheimen, Dovre, Breheimen and Reinheimen. It is an eldorado of nature with easy access. You can be at Lemonsjøen and reach all this on day trips.
In addition, Ragna and Ronald have children and grandchildren in Oslo and Trondheim. Then we saw this location as favorable with regard to the rest of the family as it is right in the middle of us all, says Ragna.
Another reason why we chose Lemonsjøen was the climate. We get a completely different climate when we come over the Stryne Mountains - much more stable. There are hot summers and cold winters.
After hearing good things about Lemonsjøen, we started renting a cabin there twice. Then we quickly realized that this area was right for us, says Ragna. Furthermore, Ragna says that they contacted Lemonsjøen Utvikling to see a plot of land. That started the process that ended with them choosing one of Lemonsjøen Utvikling's cabins instead of building themselves. Then Lemonsjøen Utvikling was also responsible for the entire construction process.
My husband Ronald is a builder and he followed the process," says Ragna. "We felt that they were solid, good cabins. When it came to changes, we had slightly different suggestions compared to the drawings, and in the end we got it exactly as we wanted it. Lemonsjøen has also, among other things, been helpful in digging up and preparing for a storage room we wanted to set up ourselves.
We signed the papers in November, the plot was excavated in January, and the cottage arrived in February. On June 4, we moved into the cottage - very quic and efficient!
The climate is very important, Ragna emphasizes. Furthermore, there is the good access to miles of groomed trails and the alpine slope right next door. In addition, we have good opportunities to go out and eat varied and good food. The rich nature in the area is also very positive for us.
Ragna elaborates "if you look at Norway from a bird's eye view, you see how favorable this area is. You have fantastic hikes such as Galdhøpiggen and Glittertind close by. For our part, we can also visit family in Oslo as a day trip with the cabin as a starting point. If we are going all the way from home to Oslo, we usually stop at the cabin and charge the electric car before driving on to Oslo. The children and grandchildren also love being at our cabin and use it a lot".
We find that there is a good environment among the cabin owners at Lemonsjøen. It is peaceful and quiet with plenty of space on each cabin plot. The neighbors are pleasant, and we have a good relationship where we are happy to visit each other and say hello.
We use the cottage all year round. It is just as many advantages in the summer as there is in the winter. We have also rented out our cabin, and find that it is a good rental market and very easy to rent out. This is a plus for those who want to rent out to help finance the cottage.
Yes, we do! We love the area and have experienced a very efficient and orderly process. The people at Lemonsjøen Utvikling provide great service, are accommodating and very much on the supply side. We are very happy with our choice.
